 Roots

Here we are then, and not an insect in sight! This small clump of trees is in the Avebury. It was just starting to rain so their combined wide canopy provided some extensive and welcome shelter. The exposed root structure, probably due to years of trampling by people and sheep, presented me with a spectacular natural pattern. The roots really are an extensive wooden network. I love pattens in nature, and this is therefore my photograph for July.
