Restaurant of the Month

Prithvi, Cheltenham

With stunning Tripadviser reviews we couldn't resist visiting Prithi, 37 Bath RoadCheltenham. It's no ordinary 'curry house'. Don't go here expecting to find a weath of recognisable dishes. You will find one or two but the majority of the menu is a clear fusion of east and west. The tasts are undoudtable asian but the presentation and ingredients inspired by some of the best restaurants around the world.

We started with Machli (Salmon) and Assiete of Sabzi (Potato Cakes) and finished with mains of Lababdar Lamb and Aamla Lamb - after all, it is Easter! To accompany we had a Prehwari and Keema Naan. The starters were a decent size along with the mains but you won't feel bloated. With a couple of beers and a couple of Kir Royals the bill came to around £67. The service was impeccable and extremely efficient. They were fully booked when we visited late on Saturday, having made a booking. The meal comes with a complementary popadom and pickles and an amuse-buche, this one presented on a small slate. All very elegant and wonderfully presented and cooked.

Update (10th November 2013)...

Listed in The Sunday Times "Food List" as one of the top 130 restaurants under £50. Apparently locals come back for monkfish in mustard and coconut juice. Reports say this "not particularly fancy-looking" Indian "outclasses all the local competition" with its "remarkably good" cooking.
